Homeless Health Care Los Angeles’ website has a new look, with greater functionality — thus taking their online social marketing to a far greater level than ever before. Not only does their new site employ a Content Management System (CMS) by Textpattern (permitting client-side editing), it offers an array of new features which permits greater community interaction, functionality and security.
With online fundraising on the increase, shooting up 23 percent for the three months ending in May, 2010 (compared to the same period in 2009), vying for the online donation is getting more competitive. HHCLA understands this as they see competition in revenue sources more fierce than ever before. And as any good fundraising professional will tell you, the key to steering donations to one’s organization depends a lot on communication and relationships. HHCLA has understood this since their beginning. That said, with the emergence of online social-networking comes the opportunity to communicate with far more people and more accurately than ever before, yet at a lower cost than traditional, non-web, methods.
To better communicate with their supporters and event patrons, HHCLA now employs the use of a weblog module within their Home page’s news (“What We’re Sayin’”) column. Here one not only gets the scoop on HHCLA news and upcoming events, but they can share their knowledge and enthusiasm via the Comments function. Additional news on health and the homeless streams continually onto the Home page via an RSS news feed. And for the board of directors to better communicate with one another is a password-protected (“Board Zone”) area just for them.
Searching the website has been made faster and easier. No longer does the page information have to pass through Google’s machinery to get indexed. And the Predictive search function offers up immediate results as one types. Also, sharing a page with others within one’s personal network has been made much easier and complete with a Bookmark & Share plug-in that offers up a list of all top social-networking sites for one to “share.” Options include Facebook, Twitter and hundreds more.
